A Study of a Personality Deviance Scale on Psychiatric Out-Patients


Abstract
During a 2 month period from September 1, 1985 to October 31, 1985, the author performed the Personality Deviance Scale on 90 psychiatric out-patients. The tested group were composed of 40 male patients and 40 female patients with . diagnosis of anxiety disorder (33), somatoform disorder (12), other neurotic disorders (2), affective disorder (26), adjustment disorfer (5),tension headache (2).
The author obtained following results.
1. The mean PDS scores for total out-patient group were Extrapunitive scale 25.3, Intropunitive scale 26.9, Dominance scale 25.3.
2. The mean PDS scores for male out-patient group were Extrapunitive scale 25.7, Intropunitive scale 27.2, Cominance scale 26.1.
3. The mean PDS scores for female out-patient group were Extrapunitive scale 24.9, Intropunitive scale 26.7, Dominance scale 24.5.
4. In female group, the difference between Extrapunitive scale and Intropunitive scale was statistically significant. The difference between Intropunitive scale and Dominance scale was also statistically significant.
